Timeless Performance: 996 Porsche 911 Turbo at Carhuna Auction

The mid-1990s presented significant challenges for Porsche, including financial instability and increasing competition.

The solution was the 996, the first 911 model featuring a water-cooled engine, which launched in 1997. This move was essential for meeting global emissions standards and rejuvenating the 911 series.

Designed by Pinky Lai, the 996 was a notable departure from its predecessors with its more aerodynamic body and shared components with the Boxster. This strategic component sharing saved Porsche 30% in development costs. The 996 was longer, wider, and lighter than the 993, enhancing performance and balance.

In 2001, Porsche addressed initial criticisms with a facelift, improving the 996’s distinctiveness and performance. The 996 Turbo, released in 2000, showcased these advancements with a twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre engine and all-wheel drive, setting a new standard in the supercar segment.

Currently offered by a private seller in a Carhuna auction, this 2004 996 Porsche 911 Turbo is fitted with the must-have manual transmission and a mileage of 62,853. Featuring an array of factory options and aftermarket enhancements, this car has been meticulously maintained.

The vehicle’s Polar Silver Metallic exterior, characterised by a subtle blue hue, is complemented by a black leather interior with aluminium accents. Notable factory options include park assist, an electric slide/tilt sunroof, and soft ruffled leather seats. The exterior features a factory-fitted Aerokit turbo and 18-inch Sport Techno wheels. A standout aftermarket addition is the Klein stainless steel exhaust system, installed by Porsche specialists Nine Excellence.

This 996 Turbo has a comprehensive service history, exclusively maintained by Portsmouth Porsche under its current ownership. Additional features include a tracker system, two sets of original keys, and Porsche interior and exterior covers. Dry stored and driven only during summer months, the car is in excellent condition.

This auction offers a rare opportunity to own a well-preserved and tastefully optioned 996 Turbo. The auction is live and will conclude on June 12th. Don’t miss your chance to bid!
