Rugged Icon: 2001 Hummer H1 at Carhuna Auction
Few vehicles capture the spirit of military-grade toughness like the Hummer H1.
Born from the robust M998 Humvee, the H1 is the civilian iteration that took the world by storm. With its unmistakable bulk and commanding presence, the Hummer H1 became a symbol of rugged off-road capability, and no one embodied this spirit better than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who famously took delivery of the first civilian model in 1992.
This particular Hummer H1, a 2001 model, features the potent 6.5-liter V8 turbo diesel engine, delivering 205 horsepower and a massive 440 lb-ft of torque. Imported into the UK in 2002, it underwent significant modifications to meet the Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) requirements. DK Engineering oversaw these changes, including the installation of a custom single-piece full-width windscreen and removal of helicopter pickup points from the bonnet. Additional upgrades, such as a front suspension guard and new headlamps, enhance both the vehicle's usability and compliance with UK regulations.
With just 5,900 miles on the odometer, this H1 has been meticulously maintained and kept as part of the eclectic YOLO Collection. Despite its military roots, the Hummer H1 offers surprising comfort, with features like air conditioning, electric windows, and seating for four.
Supplied with a service, this Hummer H1 is now available for auction, offering a rare opportunity to own THE definitive military vehicle. The H1, supplied by DK Engineering, is live on Carhuna and concludes on August 14th.
