CHASSIS 002 - FACTORY CAR, 2X DAYTONA 24HR & SEBRING 12HR HISTORY AND A LE MANS 24HR PODIUM IN GT1
The Pratt & Miller-developed 'works' Chevrolet Corvette C5-R GT1s are the most successful GT1 cars of their generation, and chassis 002 is arguably the most original of these thundering beasts - persevered in its podium-winning 2000 Le Mans paint and specification.
Chassis 002 benefits from only ever being a works race car, never having run in the lower leagues of GT racing. Its racing record is a list of the big 'blue riband' long-distance races of the period, culminating in a 3rd place in the GT1 class at the 2000 Le Mans 24hr.
Racing record for chassis C5-R-002:
- 1999 Daytona 24hr
- 1999 Sebring 12hr
- 1999 Petit Le Mans
- 2000 Daytona 24hr
- 2000 Sebring 12hr
- 2000 Le Mans 24hr (3rd place)
- Retired and retained by Pratt & Miller
Today the car is ready to use, and spectacularly original - from its 7-litre Le Mans engine, 6-speed transaxle, to its paintwork, scrutineering stickers - every inch of the car is as it finished at Le Mans in 2000. But importantly, it has been rebuilt sympathetically, and even returned to Le Mans Classic/Endurance Racing Legends in 2022 with the current owner.
A truly important piece of Corvette Racing history - and arguably the simplest GT1 car of its generation.
