About this specific vehicle
1984 Mercedes 500SL
A stunning example of the flagship of the W107 SL model range, this 500SL has covered only 25,000 miles in the hands of five devoted owners. It remains in the most superb original condition in all respects and comes with a full history from new.
The car was ordered new by a Mrs Peggy O'Gorman of St George's Hill, Weybridge Surrey, she chose the Classic White paintwork with contrasting dark blue leather interior, the options of cruise control, headlamp wash/wipe, Blaupunkt stereo and rear seat were specified. The O'Gormans retained the 500SL until July 1992 and covered some 14,500 miles during their eight years of ownership. Initially they used nearby Mercedes dealer Woking Motors for service work, however in 1987 the O'Gormans moved to Jersey at which point Jacksons the official Mercedes dealer on the island took over maintenance. Indeed, it was Jacksons who purchased the car from the O'Gormans in 1992, they sold it immediately to another Island resident who kept it until October 2013.
In 2014 the car returned to these shores and has continued to be carefully used on fine dry days whilst being stored in ideal dehumidified conditions. We purchased the car in 2016 and quickly sold it to the last owner who had been looking for just such an example for many years.
The condition of the car in the finest detail is quite extraordinary, a testament to the supreme build quality of the marque in this era together with diligent care from each of the five owners. On the road it continues to impress with great refinement, smoothness and a positivity to all controls with no squeaks or rattles evident.
This must be one of the finest pre facelift examples of the 500SL in existence, it comes with all books including original stamped service book in the correct wallet, tools and a file of invoices. That much abused ‘time warp’ term really does apply here!
