About this specific vehicle
1973 Porsche 914 2.0
This super little 914 remains delightfully original and has a great history going right back to the original delivery papers and Porsche Passport Service Book issued when new by Guy Gardner Audi-Porsche – the official dealer for San Francisco in 1973.
The car was sold when new to local enthusiast Mr Anders Raunberg who obviously enjoyed the 914, retaining it until September 1980. During his ownership he covered 65,000 miles and clearly looked after the car properly with regular servicing by the supplying dealer as detailed in the original service book on file.
In July 1980 Raunberg sold his 914 to a Mr Richard Elder, a fellow Californian and Porsche enthusiast who kept it until 2005. During this time the car was well driven, the mileage rising to 148,000 miles, however, it was again very carefully looked after and maintained to the highest standards as noted in an extensive log that diligently documents all maintenance completed and the relevant mileage point.
In 1991 the car was placed in dry storage until its sale to the third owner, a Mr Kenneth Ian McLaren, again a California resident in 2005/6. In late 2005 the car was back on the road following a light renovation programme as noted in the mileage log.
In 2007 the car passed to a Mr Duncan Rosie via a Mr Corry Micheal Craig. Mr Rosie then imported the 914 into the UK, clearing UK Customs on the 6th of August 2007. Mr Rosie retained the car until 2013 but did little with it due to illness.
In 2013 it was sold to a Porsche collector who embarked on the car’s much deserved renovation programme. Upon inspection it was found to be extremely good and so original that a full restoration would have been unnecessary and indeed undesirable. To this end the car was stripped and repainted and fully serviced with any areas found wanting being refurbished or parts replaced as required.
Since this work the car has remained in a private collection and has been used sparingly in appropriate dry summer weather only. It remains lovely throughout and has that special feel and on the road rightness that only really good, unmessed about with, original examples possess. It really is a lovely ownership proposition, rare, with such super history and originality for so little money really.
