About this specific vehicle
Specific Vehicle Description:
Stepping into the shoes of the AMG-developed, critically acclaimed SLS AMG was never going to be easy, but with the AMG GT, Mercedes-Benz proved itself yet again, and managed to make unabated progress in the segment. But that's of course not where they stopped, and the AMG GT did spawn a fair number of highly focussed sub-models. One of which was the breathtaking Mercedes-AMG GT R, a car that brought the GT3 racer's prowess to a street-legal supercar — it was lighter, had more power and updated active aero, and bestowed with so many updated components underneath that Mercedes-Benz could've very well turned it into a separate model line, if they wanted to.
Currently listed on Carhuna is a completely stock but unquestionably magnificent 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R. For a modern car, it's seen limited use — the odometer reads 21,000 miles. It has all the original books included down to the brochures and manuals. Both its keys are available and while unmodified, it's been treated to a PPF for the entire front, the mirrors, A-pillar, and even the side skirts. Please note that the privet plate is not included and will be replaced on purchase.
Service History:
Registered first in November 2017, this AMG GT R has been serviced at Mercedes-Benz throughout its life. The detailed paperwork also includes complete Mercedes-Benz main dealer history including invoice printouts. The seller mentions that the AMG GT R was recently serviced at Mercedes-Benz Hertford.
It has had three MoT tests and all have been cleared without any issues whatsoever, and the latest certificate is valid till April 2024. Having done 21,000 miles in six years, it has averaged about 3,000 miles every year.
Full Disclosure:
As recorded on the V5C, this 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R has five former keepers. The current owner says that while completely stock, the car performs flawlessly — something they found on a few trips to Europe that were made in the car. 'It really does do everything, this thing' is saying a lot — especially about a car that's more focussed and keener to hit the track than the standard iteration of the model. But the reality is that Mercedes-AMG got it right with this one.
Before taking a look at the condition, it'd be a good idea to recapitulate what one gets extra on this over the standard AMG GT. The biggest change on the outside is the prominently more mental-looking aero bits (including the large spoiler), special lightweight wheels, a new (for its time) Panamericana grille, and if you look closely, rear-wheel steering. The AMG GT R adopts more carbon fibre and aluminum parts for added chassis stiffness and lightness. The engine and gearbox, although shared with the standard iteration of the GT, have been worked upon, too. The former also has a different set of turbos (resulting in an increase of over 70 bhp) while the gearbox has updated gear ratios. The suspension system was made more race-ready than it'd ever been in the GT. Plus, did we forget the carbon fibre roof?!
The large bonnet and gently curved cabin give the AMG GT an unmistakeable silhouette, but what makes the AMG GT R purposeful — menacing, even — are the vents in the bodywork, wide tires, its large rear carbon-fibre spoiler, prominent rear diffuser, and the hunkered-down look. One can't mistake it for anything else even in this relatively subtle spec. While there's not much that detracts the car from a spot-free condition, the seller mentions that the nearside headlight has a small crack. The brake discs are in perfect condition without any marks. On the inside, too, once you've gawked enough at the yellow seat belts and the contrasting stitching, you'll notice the high-quality interior that doesn't show wear or damage.
As a car, the Mercedes-AMG GT R is a prominent display of AMG's engineering capabilities. Its more focused nature is more rewarding for the learner, and with the way it looks and feels, the AMG GT R doesn't quite have many rivals. The SLS AMG indeed left big shoes to fill, but it turns out that they match the GT R's feet quite well.
Dealer or Consignor Quote:
“V8 Grunt and power with the German sophistication combined to create an impeccable driving experience with hansom European styling.”
