General Description
The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M was built to celebrate Ferrari's victory in the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship and as a reminder of this, the car sports a special plaque on its rear grille commemorating Ferrari's 16th Constructor's World title.
Production was limited to just 499 units which is underscored by the silver "limited series" plaque just above the air vents at the centre of the dashboard. Upgrades over the Ferrari F430 Spider, on which the Scuderia Spider is based, included 80 kg in weight savings due to the use of lightweight body trim materials, the stripping of excess interior weight, and a carbon-trimmed roll bar that emphasises the 16M racing pedigree.
From a technical point of view, this car has a dry weight of 1340 kg; this combined with the 510 bhp provided by its V8 engine and a power-to-weight ratio of 2.6 kg/hp, means that it delivers blistering 0-100 kph acceleration in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph.

About this specific vehicle
This Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M was supplied new on 26th June 2009 to Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, by Maranello Egham. One of just 499 examples to leave the factory, it is understood that just 48 examples were supplied to the UK in right hand drive. Whilst the lion's share of cars were optioned new in Rosso, this 16M stands apart, thought to be one of just 4 examples to finished in Bianco to reach UK shores.
Carbon fibre was used liberally on the 16M as standard. Whereas it would have been an option to have the dashboard inserts and Driver’s Zone in carbon on lesser F430s, all 16Ms were equipped as such.
This example did receive a number of additional requests at the time of order:
- Exposed carbon fibre lower sills
- Exposed carbon fibre exterior pack
- Bianco Avus with painted racing livery with Italian Flag
- Nero Alcantara with Nero Tessuto inserts
- Nero brake calipers
- Contrasting Stitching in Bianco
- Rev counter in Bianco
- Apple iPod Touch interface
Known for a lasting love for the Italian marque, this example was kept within Kay’s extensive stable of both new and old Ferrari. Shortly after receiving the car, he purchased the cherished registration ’16 JAM’, which was seen publicly on this example on several occasions. Unlike many other cars in his collection, this car was remarkably retained by Kay from new until 2020.
Residing within a prominent collection of the marque since 2020, this example has covered just 600 miles with its current keeper. Presented today with a clean bill of health, as part of the sale DK Engineering will carry out a thorough inspection, replace all four tyres and remedy the headlight clouding that is present in some of the photographs.
