General Description
By the mid-1960s Jensen knew they had to come up with something special to replace the outgoing CV8, a car that was one of the fastest production 4-seaters of its time capable of keeping up with the likes of Miuras, E-Types and even out-gunning the likes of the Aston Martin DB5.
Whilst other British manufacturers were focused on keeping up the sports car battle with the Italians, Jensen moved in a totally different direction, instead opting for a pure British muscle, albeit with an Italian body and American muscle under the bonnet. The body is designed by Carozzoria Touring, the power-plants used were big V8 muscle from Detroit, with Jay Leno quoting that the Interceptor is “like a Dodge Coronet that went to college at Oxford.” The Interceptor was and instant hit, earning the heart of many enthusiasts across the globe and quickly becoming an icon with musicians such as Cher, Frank Sinatra, Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, John Bonham and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and even renown car connoisseur Nick Mason of Pink Floyd all owning an Interceptor at one point.
The oil crisis of the 1970s predictably made it difficult for anyone to turn a profit, especially Jensen who at the time were installing GM’s 7.2 litire V8 into the Interceptor. Consequently the British-based manufacturer closed its doors for good, however in 2007 marque specialist Cropredy Garage provided a modern day solution by announcing that 50 “Interceptor S’ restomods would be built using an original Interceptor MK III chassis and modern mechanicals providing a more reliable yet uniquely Jensen experience.
About this specific vehicle
Commissioned on the 9th October 2007 by its France based customer, work on chassis 1284450 started just two weeks later and concluded in February of 2008, with this particular Jensen is believed to be the only left hand drive Interceptor S to leave the factory.
Only 50 build slots were allocated out by Cropredy Bridge with this vehicle confirmed as build number 9 of 50 with supporting documentation on file. The build was based on the Interceptor MK III, featuring a revised skirt and a repositioned fuel filler. The chassis was carefully selected by Cropredy Bridge before being stripped back to its shell and rust-proofed before being finished in a colour choice chosen by the customer.
Known in-period for its outright brutish force, a modern-day Interceptor required a modern day solution and the chosen power-unit is the 2007 6.2-litre General Motors LS2 V8 block, offering a more than healthy 414 bhp. This is mated to a 4-speed GM automatic gearbox with final overdrive and LSD ensuring a 0-60mph of under 5 seconds. The stopping power is supplied through AP Racing 6-pot calipers with 330mm discs at the front and single pot calipers with 280mm discs at the rear.
Inside the car is fitted with period-correct iPod connectivity and satellite navigation and the interior presents in well-kept and unblemished condition.
Today this Jensen presents in a highly presentable condition, having been owned by the same family since 2008 and receiving regular maintenance over the years with various trips back to original creators Cropredy garage as well as France-based specialists.

The vendor reports that the car has been in storage since following the passing of the owner and is ready for its new custodian to enjoy.
