About this specific vehicle
In theory, it is possible to trace the 599’s heritage to the very first front-engined Ferrari road car, but in truth its lineage begins with the legendary 250 GT SWB and Lusso of the 1960s.
Fast, dramatic machines with impossibly long bonnets continued as Ferrari flagships through the 275GTB and Daytona until the company chose a mid-engined format for its range-topping 12-cylinder road cars from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s.
The 599 replaced the 575 in the summer of 2006 and brought the front-engined V12 Ferrari slap bang into the modern age. Whereas the 550 and 575 always felt like modern classics, the 599 was every inch a new-age Ferrari with an all-aluminium chassis, plenty of glossy carbon fibre, F1 SuperFast gearbox, F1-Trac stability and traction control, magnetic semi-active dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes, all wrapped in aggressive, aero-optimised bodywork with minimal overhangs and maximum presence.
Top billing, though, went to the engine – a lightly modified version of the Enzo’s 6-litre V12 with a mighty 611bhp at 7600rpm, endowing Ferrari’s new series-production flagship with truly sensational performance: 0-60 in 3.5sec, 0-100 in 7.4 and 205mph. Numbers that are blisteringly quick still in 2023.
Whilst the 599 is every-bit a GT car, it very much showcases Ferrari's racing pedigree boasting the latest technology the Maranello-based outfit had to offer.This included the latest iteration of Ferrari's F1 SuperFast gearbox and despite active suspension being banned in F1, further development for road cars continued with the 599 benefiting from Ferrari's latest development of 'semi-active' dampers. Step inside and sit on the Daytona-inspired seats and you'll find the damper controls via the Formula-1 focused steering wheel. The vendor reports of no known wear and tear within the interior, and full of options that include a carbon fibre dash, steering wheel and transmission tunnel.
Step back outside and the 599's nero paintwork has never been in better condition. This is in part thanks to a full paint correction and PPF applied by world-renowned specialsts, Topaz, in 2016. The 20-inch alloys are also reported as un-marked and the car also is fitted with Scuderia shields on the wings: a must have option on any modern Ferrari.
Further options on this car include a factory Becker sat-nav, front and rear parking sensors, carbon fibre driving zone, electric seats, carbon ceramic brakes with red callipers.
