General Description
Following on from Pininfarina's celebratory 550 Barchetta, the Ferrari 575 Superamerica was designed by Pininfarina as an exclusive low volume V12 Ferrari Berlinetta featuring a highly original, innovative take on the convertible concept. The Superamerica was the first production car to adopt an innovative rotating roof movement in combination with electrochromic technology developed exclusively for glass surfaces of these dimensions in partnership with glass-manufacturers, Saint Gobain. The Fioravanti-patented rotating roof concept allows the Superamerica driver to electrically drop the top in 10 seconds flat, making one of the world's fastest convertibles with a 201 MPH top speed.
The Superamerica's unusual electric roof was dubbed 'Revocromico' to highlight the unique combination of its rearward rotation movement and electrochromic technology. It has a carbon-fibre structure and the boot capacity remains unchanged whether the roof is open or closed too. The glass rear window also acts as a highly effective wind deflector when the roof is open. The use of electrochromic glass means that the driver can completely control the level of light entering the cockpit. There are five tint levels available and the glass can go from dark to light in under a minute, at the touch of a button. Derived from the 575M Maranello, the Superamerica was enhanced to deliver 540 hp.

About this specific vehicle
Just 43 examples of the Superamerica left the factory with the six-speed manual gearbox originally; the rest, including this example were built with Ferrari's innovative F1 paddle shift gearbox. It is believed just five examples were originally supplied to the UK fitted with a manual gearbox, making these an incredibly rare sight on UK roads.
Time has demonstrated the delta between a manual example and the more common F1 variant. Under the instruction of the previous owner of this car, a conversion to manual was carried out over the course of 10 months. The parts required are incredible scarce and to replicate this task could cost six figures, not to mention the electrical complexities to overcome above that of a 575M.
With just 2 previous keepers from new, this car has been used sparingly as part of significant car collections and today presents with just over 2,525 miles from new.
Ready to become part of a new collection or with its versatile open top/coupe configuration, ready for its 200+ mph performance to be enjoyed to the full - this charismatic V12 in a highly desirable colour combination, presents as a fabulous example of the rare, coveted, limited edition Superamerica.
The 43 factory manual examples from the total production of 559 are becoming increasingly sought after, as one would suspect, and is justified in the below four recent auction results through public sales.
