The Porsche 911 Turbo has been a dream of children and adults alike since the introduction of 930 Turbo in 1975. Porsche introduced the new 996 in 1997, seeing a complete redesign of the iconic sports car with little being carried over from the outgoing 993. In 1999 the 996 Turbo was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and, a few years later, the 996 Turbo cabriolet was introduced. Its introduction meant it would be the first time a Turbo Cabriolet would be seen in Porsche's line up since the 930 Turbo Cabriolet ceased production in 1989.
The 996 Turbo Cabriolet was equipped with a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, producing 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, with power sent to all four wheels. This combination allowed it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in around 4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 190 mph. The car came with a sophisticated suspension system that provided a balanced blend of sportiness and comfort.
The 996 Turbo Cabriolet shared its overall design with the 996 Turbo coupe but featured a retractable soft-top roof. It retained the iconic 911 silhouette and had the characteristic wide body and aggressive styling cues. The fabric convertible roof could be operated electronically, allowing drivers to enjoy open-top motoring at the touch of a button.
The interior of the 996 Turbo Cabriolet offered a driver-focused layout with high-quality materials and a range of amenities and technologies. Features such as leather upholstery, climate control, and premium audio systems were available to those when choosing options for their 996 Turbo Cabriolet.
Porsche built the 996 Turbo Cabriolet between 2003 and 2005. This small production window mean that the car was produced in limited numbers, with around 3,500 built compared to 17,000 Turbo Coupes.
The Porsche 996 Turbo Cabriolet is cherished by enthusiasts for its thrilling performance, open-top driving experience, and iconic 911 heritage. It is celebrated for its combination of open-top driving with the power and performance of the Turbo model.
This 2004 Porsche 996 Turbo Cabriolet is presented in Basalt Black with a Graphite Grey interior. This car was heavily optioned from factory with options including an upgraded Pioneer head unit, Bose sound system, electrically adjustable seats with drivers memory, cruise control, top tinted windscreen, rear parking sensors, xenon headlamps, brushed aluminium kick plates, automatic climate control, heated seats and Turbo centre caps.
Today, this 996 Turbo Cabriolet is a well presented example. The car is showing just over 80,000 miles from new and comes with a full service history. This is a car that provides the performance of the 996 turbo with the benefits of open-top driving!
