Born out of a design exercise to re-imagine the BMW 507 for the modern day, the Z8 was unveiled at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show to critical acclaim. The car instantly had order books filling up which was further boosted by joining a list of legendary models as the vehicle choice of James Bond in 1999's 'The World is Not Enough'. Circa 5700 Z8s were built in total with around half of those allocated to the North American market.
To match the jaw-dropping design and unique space frame chassis, BMW used the now-legendary 4.9L S62 V8 that it also shared with the infamous E39 M5. No changes were made to the engine resulting in a more than healthy 396bhp and a 0-60mph time of just over 4.5 seconds, ensuring that it was on par, if not quicker, than the Ferrari 360 Spider.
Today the Henrik Fisker-designed Z8 stands firm as not only one of BMW's most legendary models, but that of a design-masterclass and subsequently is a must have in any youngtimer collection.
Supplied new to the USA and first registered in Long Beach, CA in June 2002, the first owner of this particular Z8 enjoyed the car for 8 years and covered just 2000 miles meaning an average of just 300 miles per annum. During this period the car has 7 recorded services on file as well as certificates confirming it passed emissions tests every year.
The second and final owner state-side purchased the vehicle in 2010 enjoying the car for a further 1000 miles before being exported to the UK in 2017.
Upon arrival into the UK the third owner and current vendor entrusted BMW main dealer, Soper BMW, with a refresh of the car at a total cost of £20,000 which included a re-trim of the interior and a transformation to EU spec using official BMW-supplied parts, with no-less than 50 parts listed on the invoice.
The car presents in exemplary condition having been in professional storage since its arrival. Showing just over 3700 on the clock since new, this particular Z8 has been consistently serviced by Soper BMW throughout its time in the UK and a recent advisory-free MOT in 2024 at 3,573 miles.
The car is supplied with the much sought after Z8 coffee-table book as well as an exact scale model of the car. Also included are spare original interior mats and number-plate cover.
