There have been a number of cars that when they have been released have made an instant impact in the automotive landscape. The Jaguar E-Type captured the worlds imagination in 1961 and the Miura in 1966, thanks to their elegant designs and impressive presence. Other cars make an impact in different ways, such as the driving experience they offer, and the Ferrari F355 can definitely be put in this category.
The Ferrari F355 was introduced in May 1994 and saw much acclaim from the motoring press. Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the car for Top Gear and cited that it was the best handling car at the time, and he liked it so much he would eventually buy one. He has also stated it to be one of the best sports cars of the last 50 years. The F355 has a 5 valve per cylinder 3.5 litre V8 engine developing 375 BHP, with the body being designed by Pininfarina, responsible for designing Ferrari road cars, with many saying the F355 was one of their best.
The F355 was initially released as a Berlinetta and was initially only available with the 6 speed manual but Ferrari introduced their F1 gearbox in 1997, which is a 6 speed manual gearbox that can be operated with paddles, using the F1 technology of the time. in 1995 Ferrari introduced that F355 GTS, which was based on the Berlinetta but offered a removable “targa-style” hardtop roof, which could be stored behind the seats.
In total, 2608 GTSs were produced, making up less than 20% of production. In comparison, over 5000 Berlinetta’s were produced. Production would cease in 1999, with the F355 making way for the 360 modena.
The F355’s instant impact on the motoring world showed how capable it was and, almost 30 years later, it is still an example of what the prancing horse can do when they are at their best.
This example, that Sasso Automotive are proud to offer for auction, is a 1998 Ferrari F355 GTS. This car is one of the 434 UK delivered examples and was delivered new in Rosso Corsa with a Crema leather interior and Bordeaux carpets. This car was optioned with the very desirable manual gearbox and is one of only 304 GTSs to have it. This car, chassis 110296, was delivered to the UK and then registered in January of 1998.
Today this car is presented in excellent condition, showing just 22,000 miles from new. This car is very original throughout and comes with its original accessories, including the original handbooks including service/warranty supplement, leather pouch, spare key, tool kit, tyre inflator kit, battery conditioner and Ferrari car cover.
The car has a fantastic main dealer service history, with 20 stamps in total. The service intervals are shown below:
This car has been fitted with an exhaust system from Capristo but does still retain its original exhaust, which will be included in the sale.
