General Description
The 1997 Formula 1 season saw Michael Schumacher pilot the updated F310, the F310B. Far greater a revision than its name suggests, the F310B saw the car reduce in width, whilst increasing both its mechanical and aerodynamic efficiency. The running gear was redesigned and the seven-speed, transversely mounted titanium gearbox received a new and updated actuation system. Still powered by a 3.0 V10, the F310B weighed in a just 600kg with fluids and the driver, whilst offering north of 700hp at a rev limiter just over 16,000rpm. Revisions for the following year would see the grid adopt a much narrower track width and grooved slicks in attempt to reduce grip.
1997 saw Michael Schumacher fighting once more for the championship, having narrowly lost out in the ’96 season. Schumacher won five rounds in 1997, (Monaco, Canada, France, Belgium and Japan) but after a controversial incident in the final race of the year, was disqualified from championship standings.
About this specific vehicle
This Formula 1 showcar pays tribute to the F310B of 1997, identifiable from the high nose and placement of the ‘Pioneer’ sponsorship logo on the engine cover. The showcar is well made and presents well, and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
Constructed with largely fiberglass parts, this car closely resembles a Formula 1 vehicle to the untrained eye. However, it cannot be converted into a race-ready car and is intended solely for display purposes.
