General Description

The Range Rover is undoubtedly an institution in the motoring world, having been launched in the early 70s to meet rising demand for a recreational off-road vehicle, it has remained in production for over 50 years and still to this day remains a benchmark for the luxury off-road market.

Marketed as the ‘A car for all reasons’ the Range Rover offered space for five occupants, a top speed of 100mph, an industry leading towing capacity and a four-speed gearbox with permanent four wheel drive. The original Range Rover was an instant hit, resulting in over 77,000 Range Rovers built in the 70s alone meaning multiple year waitlists just to be able to get your hands on one. Whilst revisions were made throughout its life-cycle, the original shape lasted all the way until 1994.

About this specific vehicle

First registered on the 15th March 1993, this Range Rover Vogue EFi was ordered in Metallic Plymouth Blue over a grey leather interior, fitted with a 3.9 litre fuel injected petrol V8 mated to a four-speed gearbox.

Not much is known of the car up until 2014 when the car was taken off of the road and placed into storage, but has since been meticulously maintained, backed up by a sizeable A4 folder containing circa 100 pages of documentation consisting of restoration details and invoices.

Between 2018 and 2019 K396 BMJ underwent a 1,000 hour ground-up restoration with no expense spared. During this work, all panels, sills, arches and boot floor were all removed and replaced with new bodywork before being sealed with factory sealant. All seals including the sunroof were also replaced. The chassis was also checked over, treated with anti-corrosion treatment and sprayed black.

Post restoration the car was delivered to Gumtree 4X4 at 89,895 miles for a full inspection before further interior work was undertaken before being sent to leading interior specialists, SM Trimming in October 2019 where the front seats, headrests and armrests were all re-trimmed. The rear seats were professionally cleaned and nourished, before all seats were re-fit to the car.

In November 2019 the car was delivered to Impact Bodyshop to ensure all of the Plymouth Blue paint matched across all panels and to spray the original factory-supplied 16 inch alloy wheels in the correct shade to match the rest of the car. All decals on the car were also removed and replaced with period-correct factory specification decals.

Further upgrades to have been fitted to the car include:

• Bilstein B6 shock absorbers with upgraded mounting rubbers 

• Rear adjustable suspension kit 

• Terrarimra upgraded anti-roll bar & mounts 

• Polybush suspension mounts 

• Upgraded Halogen classic style headlamps
  Hi-Torque starter motor 

• Blaupunkt bluetooth radio with USB 

Today the car presents in a remarkable condition having only covered less than 3,000 miles since restoration. All panels are rust free and all sills are water-tight and secure. All buttons and switchgear are reported to work as intended and there are no issues with any of the electrics.

The V8 fires up as intended and the car drives and changes gear without fault. The interior presents in a remarkable condition with only small signs of usual wear.

The most recent MoT was undertaken in July 2024 resulting in a first time pass with no advisories.

The most recent service was undertaken by marque specialists Kingsley in July 2023 with a total of £2,300. Please view the documentation section for further details.

The current vendor has owned the car since 2020 and there are 4 previous owners prior to ownership and the car has a clear HPI report with no markers.
