General Description
The Ferrari Testarossa was first unveiled at the 1984 Paris Auto Show, quickly becoming the poster car of a generation. The design that would rival the Lamborghini Countach was a drastic change from the 512 BB that the car derived from.
Not only did Ferrari sway from the smooth lines seen on its prior models, they also radically changed the engine from what was formally seen in the BB. It had four-valves per cylinder, Marelli electronic ignition, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and capable of producing 390 bhp from the 4943 cc horizontally opposed 12 cylinders. All versions of the Testarossa were rear wheel drive and had a rear-mounted, five-speed manual transmission.
Following on from its extensive and prominent featuring in the TV series Miami Vice, the Testarossa became a cultural icon. Synonymous with power and performance, the Testarossa was one of the first poster cars and its resurgence in popularity today is no doubt spurred on by its stardom in the late 1980s.
About this specific vehicle
This example was supplied new by Charles Pozzi Ferrari of Paris, to its first keeper Mr Plitman of Paris in the rare and sought after shade of Blu Sera FER 504/C. Introduced in the 1960s, the colour translates to ‘Evening Blue’ and remains immensely elegant to this day. A European specification example, this Testarossa is one of the final cars delivered before the introduction of catalytic converters.
This example further received a Beige leather interior with a chocolate leather dashboard, introduced to minimise windscreen glare and carpets in Bruciato. Keen to make use of the car from the off, the Testarossa was immediately put into full use and greatly enjoyed.
Supplying dealership Charles Pozzi Ferrari of Paris serviced the car extensively, with the car continuing to return for 9 consecutive years. With thanks to Charles Pozzi Ferrari, the early history of the Testarossa is as follows:
