General Description
One of the most popular collector’s models of the ‘Series’ Land Rovers, the Series 3 began production in 1971, culminating in 1985.
The Series 3 did retain much of the Series 2, however, improvements were made in various areas. Most noticeable was a new dashboard, known as the soft dash, which allowed for an uprated heater and twin speed wipers with auto-return, amongst other various switches and dials. Engines were mostly similar, but the dynamo was replaced with an alternator and the gearbox received synchros resulting in easier changing.
When production ceased in 1985, Land Rover completely re-modelled the car to the current, as we know it today, as the Defender ‘90’.
About this specific vehicle
This example was first registered on the 6th of June 1974 and was acquired by its current keeper, in April of 2021. Having been in the procession of 12 former keepers throughout its near 50-year life, it is clear that this example has been lovingly cared for, used sparingly in recent years, and presents in ready to go condition today.
The car today presents with a modest 84,125 miles on the odometer, with the most 2,000 of those miles covered over the past 13 years! During its life, the car has been repainted in a hue of grey, with black doors.
Under the bonnet is a 2.25-litre in-line four cylinder petrol engine producing 73 hp when new, coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox with syncros, driving all four wheels or two, at the drivers’ choice.
The car is equipped with a collapsible canvas roof (with structure) or can be used as presents in the images.
This honest example of the last ‘Series’ production Land Rover is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next owner and is available to view on our premises outside London by appointment immediately.
