General Description
The Alfa Romeo 105 series is a stunningly beautiful car, introduced in 1962 to replace the 101 series range of compact saloon and performance cars. The 2000 GT Veloce was introduced in 1971 as a direct replacement for the 1750 range in both the European and US markets. Similarly to its predecessor, the most significant change introduced was an increase in engine displacement, this time to 2,000cc and now producing 130hp at 5,500rpm. Despite the increase in power being slight, when combined with the lightweight chassis performance was transformed.
A number of cosmetic improvements were also made including a re-designed front grill assembly and larger rear assemblies. Inside a new instrument cluster could be seen as opposed to the dash installed gauges seen in all earlier cars.
Alfaholics
Alfaholics was originally founded in 1999 by Richard Banks who quickly turned the company into a one stop shop for everything classic Alfa Romeo. Expanding their parts catalogue and improvements to a wider selection as the years went on, Alfaholics then reached global acclaim through the launch of their fully upgraded cars, the ‘GTA-R’, in 2016.
Based on a 105-series Coupé, the GTA-R represents the ultimate evolution of this generation. As the order books would go to show, they caught on quickly and in current times, if you wanted to order a new example, the waiting line will keep you 7 years whilst costing over a quarter of a million pounds.
About this specific vehicle
This 105-series GT Junior was first brought into the United Kingdom from Italy in early 2018 and was sold by Alfaholics to a London based client, a good friend of the business. At this time, the car was in a dismantled state and the new owner would go on to take the project under his own wing to bring the car into the form for which we see it today, using parts supplied by Alfaholics who would also go on to register the car on the client’s behalf.
The body is resplendent in the magnificent Ferrari hue of Rosso Rubino, to which the car handsomely wears to this day. Starting off the upgrading, the interior benefitted from an Alcantara retrim, leather Recaro Pole Position bucket seats for which were reconnolised at the time, matching Burgundy stitching, updated premium carpets, and a roll cage for safety in addition.
Whilst the cosmetic enhancements were given plenty of love, the main focus was on the mechanical side of the car to deliver a tantalising driving experience. The upgrades were namely as listed below with all parts supplied by Alfaholics.

The project culminated at the start of 2019 and the result, one would dub a ‘fast road’ GT Junior, would go on to see plenty of use attending various car shows and summertime driving across the UK as it was intended to be used! Later on that same year, DK Engineering sourced and supplied this wonderful Alfa Romeo to its current keeper who has continued to enjoy the car whilst maintaining it in our own storage and workshop.
Tastefully upgraded, this example presents on the button, ready to viewed or inspected at our showrooms just outside London immediately.
