1964 MG MGB

General Description

As reported in Motorsport and Octane Magazines the MGB has always been a useful track tool. The monocoque as opposed to separate chassis body design was revolutionary in 1962 and is still only just being adopted by other manufacturers. Most importantly an MGB is one of the best and easiest ways into Historic motorsport being relatively low value, easy and cost effective to run but also consistently competitive in their class. Many famous faces have used an MGB as their route into motorsport such as in recent times touring car driver Rob Huff, and British GT driver Oliver Bryant to name but a few. A perfect car to learn race craft, car control and the art of extracting the maximum potential from what is a relatively under powered vehicle.

About this specific vehicle

Built from an original 1964 “pull-handle”  car to appendix K FIA specification. The car was restored by the previous owner using new heritage panels and was intended to do rally’s and sprints. Once the shell had been restored the car was sent to Marque specialist MG Motorsport who completed the build with a new wiring loom, foam filled 60ltr fuel tank, fire extinguisher and a semi race suspension set up.

Due to poor health the previous owner did not have the time to compete. The current owner bought the car and sent the car to MG race specialist Autorevive London. They set about making the car a full racer. The engine was fully rebuilt by Classic & modern Engine Services, the gearbox is a 3-synchro close ratio straight cut with a 4:1 limited slip differential. The current owner had great success with numerous class podiums. The current engine has only done 1 hour of running time after a full rebuild with a brand new 48 dcoe carburettor. Brand new Rae Davis adjustable dampers all round.
